Historic Wickford, Inc.
Welcomes You to Wickford
Historic Wickford, Inc. (HistWick) is a community based nonprofit organization dedicated to preserving, protecting and celebrating the cultural and historic features of Wickford and its environs.
HistWick’s support for the beautification of village gardens and its partnering with merchants, the art association and other historic organizations such as Smith Castle and the Gilbert Stuart Museum to bring activities to the community contribute significantly to community building efforts and enhances the quality of life in the area.
HistWick also supports a number of educational programs that increase awareness of the historic significance of the village. With funds raised through numerous community activities, HistWick has supported the creation of video tapes on the history of North Kingstown available through the public library website; it has helped support publication of a book on the history of houses in Wickford and has underwritten the purchase of books on preservation for the local library.
Other community building and educational activities include narrated tours through the village and discussion on historic issues, community pot-luck meals, a summer tour of local gardens, house tours and various community gatherings.
Membership is open to anyone with interest in supporting historic preservation.
