Ralco ATMs, on average, process 300 transactions a month, with an average surcharge of $2 per transaction going to the merchant. The average withdrawal is $60 per customer. Merchants should bear in mind that when an ATM machine is placed in their establishment, not only do they profit from the transaction fees but also from the money the customer withdraws to use at the merchant’s establishment.

For instance if a machine is placed in a spot that attracts 200 transactions a month, (which is 100 below average) and has average withdrawals of $60 each, this ATM machine would dispense $12,000 to customers walking through your door. On average, 40% of this $12,000 will be spent within the host establishment. Multiply this number times your markup, and then do the math to see if this opportunity could work for you. For instance, if your markup is 20%, your profit would be $960 plus the $200 in surcharge fees which comes to $1160. Remember, this is a conservative number at 100 transactions below average. Your machine would be making you $1160 a month, if your machine is doing business at 100 transactions below Ralco’s average!
