Come See Where History was Born!

The Original home of the US Navy Seabees.

In 1942, the Navy realized that it needed experienced construction workers in the planned Pacific Island hopping campaign. Skilled workers were recruited and a new force, known as the “Seabees,” was created at the Davisville Navy Base in North Kingstown, RI.

The Seabees cut their teeth in combat and became world-famous for their “Can Do” attitude.

Seabees have participated in Korea, Vietnam, Afghanistan, and Iraq. They have built the American bases in Antarctica and have provided humanitarian disaster assistance at home and around the world.

Not only were the Seabees created in Rhode Island, but the Navy developed the famous Quonset hut here as well. This pre-fabricated building “went to war” with the Seabees.

Come share this heritage where it all began. See historical displays, military equipment, six vintage Quonset huts and the world’s only poured concrete chapel---built by Seabees!

The Seabee Museum & Memorial Park is just east of Dave's Market and the Kohls store in the Quonset Gateway on Post Road/Rt. 1 in North Kingstown, RI. Admission is by donation. Private/group tours by appointment.
